چکیده

The recent growing interest on highly-available data-intensive applications sparked the need for flexible and portable storage technologies, e.g., NoSQL databases. NoSQL databases have emerged as the solution to handle large quantities of user-generated content still guaranteeing fault-tolerance, availability and scalability. NoSQL databases offer differentiated properties and characteristics as well as different data models, architectures and data access interfaces. As a result of these heterogeneities, the development of applications exploiting such kind of technology is strictly dependent on the specific NoSQL solution being adopted.

Emerging Technologies For Big Data Processing: NOSQL And NEWSQL Data Stores

In this incessant science and technological era, where advances in web technology and the production of mobile devices and sensors connected to the Internet are resulting to voluminous amount of structured, semi-structured and unstructured data, called Big Data, the demand for technologies with extensive processing and storage requirements is rising to persuasively process such data i.e. Big Da...

New Database Architectures: Steps towards Big Data Processing

Both research and practice indicate that traditional universal DBMS architecture hardly satisfies new trends in data processing, particularly in the context of cloud computing and Big Data problems. New database architectures and their basic features will be described, particularly their horizontal scalability and concurrency model, which is mostly weaker than ACID transactions in relational SQ...

A Relational Algebra for Basic Terms in a Higher-Order Logic

We define a relational algebra on basic terms, strongly typed terms in a higher-order logic, that are well suited to the representation of heterogeneous data, irrespective of whether the data originated from relational, unstructured, semi-structured or structured sources. This higher-order generalisation of the relational model has potential applications in NoSQL databases and Big Variety, Big ...

Polystore Query Rewriting: The Challenges of Variety

Numerous databases marketed as SQL-on-Hadoop, NewSQL [16] and NoSQL have emerged to catalyze Big Data applications. These databases generally support the 3Vs [7]. (i) Volume: amount of data (ii) Velocity: speed of data in and out (iii) Variety: semi-structured and heterogeneous data. As a result of differing use cases and design considerations around the Variety requirement, these new databases...

Implementation of an Efficient MongoDB NoSQL Explorer for Big Data Visualization

With the emergence of Big Data, the use of NoSQL (Not only SQL) has increased among internet companies and other enterprises. Benefits include horizontal scaling, finer control over availability and simplicity of design. NoSQL databases are considered as an alternative to relational databases, as its schema less data model is considered to be better for handling the large volumes of structured ...
